Yorkshire-based singer songwriter Anne Cleveland has been singing and composing since she was a child.
By the time Anne entered her teens in the late Sixties she had already familiarised herself with the Great American Songbook, courtesy of her dad’s extensive jazz record collection, and was soon to become not only a devoted fan of all things soul and rhythm and blues but also of the seventies wave of singer songwriters – most notably Carole King, Laura Nyro and Joni Mitchell. Over the decades, Anne’s love of music has continued to broaden, and her song writing has developed into the unique style she performs today.
It was Josh’s granddad Dennis Royle (1937-2017) who encouraged him to take up singing. He directed Josh down the right paths, bought him his first microphone and PA system, and constantly guided and supported Josh in his desire to perform.
As a direct result, Burnley-born Josh became involved with musical theatre from the age of ten. It was in the theatre that he developed his voice and learned how to draw an audience into a performance. Leading roles in musicals followed, including “Guys and Dolls”, “Singing in the Rain”, “Grease” and “The Wedding Singer”. It was Josh’s performance in the latter which led, in 2015, to Josh embarking on a career as a singer at weddings and top corporate events. Josh was Regional Winner of the North West Wedding Awards in 2017, and continues to perform countrywide at functions and in theatre productions throughout the North West.
